Table Tennis

Table tennis, which is also known as ping pong, is a game in which two or four players hit a ball back and forth to each other with bats. Bats are also known as racquets or paddles, depending on where in the world you are located.

The game takes place on a regulation-sized table which is divided by a net that runs across the center. The first serve is usually decided by a coin toss. Once the ball is served, the ball may only bounce once on the receiving player's side before he or she hits it and returns it to the server side of the table.

Whenever the ball is hit in table tennis it must go over the net. It is legal to hit the ball around the net so long as the ball lands on the opposite player's side of the table. If your opponent cannot return the ball to your side, then you win a point.

In table tennis there are ways that you can lose a point as well. If the ball bounces more than once on your side, you lose a point. If you swing at the ball and miss, you lose a point. You can also lose a point in table tennis if you return the ball to the opponent in a fashion that does not allow the ball to bounce on his or her side. In addition to the above, there are many other ways that you can lose a point to your opponent.

The best way to learn the scoring rules for table tennis is to read the rules book which you can find online. There are many ways to gain a point and many ways to give up a point.

In table tennis, service alternates between opponents every two points (regardless of who won the rally) until a player reaches 11 points with at least a two-point lead, or until both players have 10 points each. If both players reach 10 points, then service alternates after each point, until one player gains a two-point advantage.

In tennis table doubles, service alternates every two points between sides, but also rotates between players on the same team. At the end of every two points, the receiving player becomes the server, and the partner of the serving player becomes the receiver.

Table tennis is fast and demands quick reactions. A skilled player can impart spin to the ball, which makes its bounce on the opponent's side of the table hard to judge and hard to be prepared for. Learning to spin the ball is a great way to improve your table tennis wins.
