Other Racquet Sports

Did you know that there are other racquet sports that are every bit as much fun to play as tennis or badminton? It is true, and many of these games require very little money to get started.

The more well-known games that just about everyone has heard of and perhaps even played before include tennis, badminton, and table tennis (or ping pong). Some of the lesser known games would include: pickleball, paddleball, Jai-Alai, and squash to name a few.

Two of the above named games, Jai-Alai and squash, have long histories and have been a favorite sport for many people over the years. These two games, at one time, were fairly regional in nature, meaning they were played in certain locations far more than they were played elsewhere. As time went by, however, and peoples began to migrate from one country to another, they took their favorite racket sports with them, thus making these other racquet sports more and more popular the world over.

Paddleball and pickleball are two examples of other racquet sports that are fairly modern. These two games were invented as modification to older games, in this case tennis. When these games first came on the scene, they were not played by many people initially. More often than not, a small local group was formed and it was only through word of mouth that the games found their way into new areas.

One thing that most other racquet sports have in common is that they are inexpensive to play. For the most part, a player only needs to get the proper type of racket in order to play the game. These other racquet sports use the courts and the nets that are already available and this saves a lot of money for those who wish the enjoy them.

Many of these games are played on a regular tennis court, only the use of the court is changed. Some of the games, however, still require special courts. Racketball and Jai-Alai would be two of these.

Those other racquet sports that require special courts are usually the ones that cost a bit more to begin playing. This is not always the case, but it is often true.

You can learn more about other racquet sports by doing some online research. There are many information outlets on each of the sports and there are also some websites that are devoted entirely to a particular game. You can find just about anything you need to know with some simple searching.
